Pressing your DTF transfers
Every order includes a printed instruction card, but here's the full guide.
What you need
A heat press gives the best, most repeatable results. A household iron works for one-off personal projects — use maximum heat, no steam, and press firmly on a hard surface (not an ironing board).
Standard garments (cotton, polyester, blends)
- Temperature: 150–160°C
- Time: 10–15 seconds
- Pressure: medium–firm
- Peel: hot — peel the film smoothly as soon as you lift the press
- Finish: cover with parchment or a Teflon sheet and post-press for 5–10 seconds for maximum durability and a softer finish
Heat-sensitive fabrics (nylon, softshell)
- Drop to 130–140°C and press for 15 seconds with light–medium pressure. Always test on a hidden area first.
Step by step
- Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Position the transfer print-side down (film facing up).
- Press at the settings above.
- Peel the film hot, in one smooth motion.
- Post-press with a cover sheet for the best wash durability.
Washing & aftercare
- Wait 24 hours before the first wash.
- Wash inside out at 30°C.
- No bleach, no tumble drying on high, never iron directly on the print.
Followed correctly, your prints will survive 60+ washes without cracking or peeling. Any problems, contact us and we'll put it right.
